In theory, browser storage is considered persistent storage, but we don't recommend anyone to use it for too long because the data is not backed up and prone to loss.

FinancialAha uses browser storage for its capability to store your financial data without requiring you to disclose any personally identifiable information, not even your email address, enabling you to start exploring FinancialAha anonymously.

Manual import/export

FinancialAha implements a system of manual financial data import/export for those that want to continue using FinancialAha anonymously while always keeping a personal backup of the data. Just like with the browser storage, none of your financial data every leaves your browser and your device.

The challenge with the manual import/export of your financial data is handling and securing your backup files. While you have full control over your data, you have to make sure you secure it from unauthorized access that can happen in the event of device theft, loss or unauthorized access attempts. You also need to secure your financial data backup file if you plan to share it between your devices or with collaborators.

When managing your financial data using manual import/export backup files, make sure you always edit your last version of your backup. Otherwise, you will create data inconsistencies that are hard to manage and might render your data unusable.

Cloud storage offers the best option for storing, accessing and collaborating on your financial data seamlessly and securely. This way FinancialAha enhances your convenience, and to mitigate any privacy concerns that might appear, we use end-to-end encryption which makes your financial data unaccessible to anyone else besides you and your authorized collaborators.
